Workshops on announced weekends to include: chair caning, playing the dulcimer & fiddle, quilting, spinning, basketry, story telling and “flat-footing”. Saturday, July 26: Of Yonder Saunders Join National Park Ranger Cory Watkins as he presents a skit interpreting the history of the Saunders farm through the eyes of a family member. Night Hike: Following each Saturday evening program, join a National Park Service Ranger for an evening of nighttime exploration. Bring a flashlight and wear sturdy shoes. In case of an emergency call Parkway Emergency: July 2008 7/4 Hike up Sharp Top to view fireworks in 7 cities below, 6:30 p.m. Johnson Farm tours available daily from 5/24 through 11/1. Hike the trail to the farm to talk with Park Rangers and volunteers and see how a Blue Ridge Mountain family community lived, worked and played. Join in some of the games and activities. Nature Center open daily from 5/24 through 11/1. At the foot of Sharp Top Mountain. Open to visitors 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Evening Programs every Saturday evening at 8:00 at the Peaks of Otter Amphitheater followed by a “night hike” (bring a flashlilght and wear sturdy shoes.) Programs are 45-60 minutes dealing with the natural or cultual history of the Peaks of Otter area.
