Grassy Creek/Carter Falls trails & Grassy Creek Winery – ASTA

Departing from Grassy Gap Vineyards 235 Chatham Cottage Circle State Road, NC
Rated Moderate* – approximately 5 miles (with a shorter option possible)
*A moderate hike is generally suitable for novice hikers who want a bit of a challenge. The terrain will involve a moderate incline and may have some steeper sections. Generally 3 to 5 miles.
Join ASTA on the final hike of 2022. We will depart from Grassy Creek Winery (Tasting Room) and explore the beauty of the foothills of the Yadkin Valley with a hike along the Grassy Creek Trail (this is also a section of the MST). This moderate trail (2 miles) takes you through a majestic pine forest, by a small pond and through rolling pastures. After passing through Boyd’s Creek campground it is a short distance to the Carter Falls trailhead (there is parking here). The Carter Falls Trail (.5 mile) leads to the wide, rushing Elkin Creek and Carter Falls.
The entire hike (out and back) is 5 miles.
The Grassy Creek Tasting Room will be open until 5PM that day for those who are interested.
