For more than a decade, FRIENDS has benefitted from the funds raised by our Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles plate. Plate revenue has helped provide:
- A concert series featuring Appalachian artists at the historic Glencoe Mansion & Museum in Radford.
- Pollinator and community gardens in the New River Valley and Hillsville.
- Funding to create community playgrounds in Waynesboro, Explore Park, Hillsville, Bedford and Natural Bridge.
- Historic restoration at Sidna Allen House in Hillsville and Roberson Mill in Floyd.
- Bike Racks in the Roanoke Valley, Clifton Forge and Covington.
- Sponsorships for community events like the Smoke on the Mountain BBQ festival in Galax and Ferrum Folklife Festival.
- Trail Maintenance at Devil’s Den Nature Preserve and Falls Ridge Nature Preserve.
- Free Music Lessons for Handmade Music School children in Floyd.
- And College Scholarships totaling nearly $100,000 since 2023.
Plate Details
This striking specialty license plate is part of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) revenue-sharing program. $15 of the $25 plate fee (this is in addition to the registration fee) is transferred to FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge to support its operation and programs in Virginia. This portion of your fee may be tax-deductible, so save your paperwork and speak to your tax consultant.
