Stone Mountain Hike

Stone Mountain State Park, Upper Parking Lot

We’ll hike along the Stone Mountain, Wolf Rock, and Cedar Rock trails for a total of 6-7 miles, stopping briefly for a couple of panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’ll also be on a small piece of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) in honor of the Trail’s 46th birthday which is being celebrated with MST activities throughout September.

For people driving south and west after the hike, we can stop at the Grassy Creek Vineyard (outside of Elkin) for lunch and live music and on their extensive patio. They have a food truck but you are welcome to bring your own. Music starts at 2pm.

This hike is strenuous, with an abundance of altitude changes. Please bring sturdy shoes, water, snacks, sunscreen, etc., and if you like hiking poles, they could come in handy on this one.
